Well I still haven't been to Saudi Arabia so I can't vouch for accuracy, but it is thorough in its scope of exploring the aspects of Saudi culture. It is written in a matter-of-fact manner that try to doesn't sugar-coat or skirt sensitive topics, yet is respectful of differences that may be an adjustment for westerners. This book is not useful, at all.First of all, American's are not going to be traveling to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia unless they're guest workers. In which case, the superficial treatment of subject matter does not nearly provide the level of detail or specificity of information required by someone relocating to Saudi Arabia.The actual level of detail and attention paid to subject matter is casual and almost done in passing. Yes this book mentions many subjects, but, with about a paragraph paid to each, it's no where near enough time to adequately address the subject matter.For a "Survival Guide" one would expect more of the "how to" type of narrative, this work presents information in a "by the way" style, but rarely succeeds in providing concrete advice. Contrary to other reviewers, the information is actually out of date and often incorrect. For example, there is some attention given to the use of cell phones. The authors explicitly state "camera phones are not allowed in the Kingdom." However, one of my coworkers laughed when I mentioned this and told me how everyone has one...If one is to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, let alone relocate there, the amount of information provided by any travel guide should be of much higher quality, more in depth and accurate.
